RIP Nabila (Show Compassion)

“Compassion will cure us more than condemnation will”
Do you know what a community means?
Its a group of people living together in one place, especially one practicing common ownership.
Don’t you think schools are communities?
From January to May, during summer school and from August to December
We, AUN, we are a community.
We share something in common
And that is simply being a student of American University of Nigeria.
In a community, people celebrate and mourn together.
When it’s someone’s birthday, birthday wishes pour in.
Blackberry, bless that little device.
On my birthday, so many had me up as their display pictures.
So when a member of our community passes on
Would it kill us to show a little compassion?
You didn’t have to like her or be best friends with her
As long as you knew her
You’ve passed her in cafeteria,
Talked to her on the way to a class,
Hell, even rolled you eyes at her for something she did to you!
We knew her. And now she is gone.
That is all that matters.
Use this day to say a little prayer for her.
You don’t know what she was going through
You don’t necessarily know what circumstances surround her death
All we do know is a member of the AUN community left us today
The least you can do is wish her a peaceful rest.

P.S There is a prayer for her memory in Washington Hall by 7pm.
RIP Nabila. Gone too soon.

Spring Break, the Career Fair and all of that other BS!

This post is an UPDATE. A friend of mine once said my blog is a good way to know what's going on with me. Yelz, this is true. And now I am gonna tell you all about Spring Break 2011.

Spring Break has been cool and maddening all at the same time. On Friday when it started, I spent the earlier part of the day on set (it is soooo cool to say that. Can't wait to start doing my own movies and shows!) shooting for an important project that will eventually decide if I have learned anything in college! I spent the rest of Friday with Cynthia and we did what we do best. LOL. I was quite mad at AUN that day and if not for her, I would have bombed the premises so AUN community, go and say thank you to Cynthia Lawrence okay? Okay!

Saturday was the worst day of this Spring Break for sure. Or one of the worst. Road trip to Abuja without Cynthia! On my period! I felt cursed that day for real. Couldn't even snag my brandy for the cramps and the bus driver (and his music!) were just the worst. By the time we got to Jos, I was ready to check if the bus was automatic and if it were, I would have beat up the driver, kicked him out and driven the bus the rest of the trip. Jos to Abuja is a drive I am sure I can handle! LOL. But really though, PMS and that bus driver...it wasn't good AT ALL.
Me and Cynthia D on the bus to Abj. Do I look as crap as I feel?

When we finally got to Abuja, I was like "bleh". And Colin came to pick me up from the park. He and I had been fighting since Thursday and I wasn't ready to stop! We need a good fight every once in a while. That is apparently our "sparkle" as Carrie wanted from Bigg in SATC2. I just love that movie. Doesn't matter how many times I see it...wow, drifting off. So back to Saturday. I don't want to say more about it really. I went home, saw the fam, PMS kept punching me in the stomach... it was just a shoot-me-now day.

Sunday was aight. We didn't go to church and that was all I needed cause my PMS and cramps weren't any better on Sunday. Bed and a hot water bottle. Btw, like I said on Twitter, a big shout out to the makers of hot water bottles. You do care about women and what we go through. Thanks a million! Kisses and hugs to you wherever you are! And if you are dead, I know you made it to heaven for that wonderful invention.

Monday was the best day of my Spring Break so far. In the morning, went looking for this short annoying man we had an interview with and he posted us till evening. So Bella and I decided to use the day to CHILL. We met up with Sabo and Colin, hung out with them for a bit, went home for lunch and came out again to go swimming with Colin. I love swimming! And I love swimming with Colin. My sexiness torments him and it is oh too fun to watch! When I took off my shawl thingy that was covering me and unveiled my sexy bod in my sexy swimsuit, Bee says she actually heard him heave a sigh. Bear in mind that we were still fighting. LOL. Fun huh? Anyways at some point during swimming, we made up of course. Who wants to fight with a girl that looks like me in a swimsuit? Who??? Please I would like to know. Well other girls obviously -_-
After a bit more swimming, Baileys on the rocks and the hottest chicken wings I have ever eaten in my life, we left and Colin dropped us off at the salon to get pretty. Me and Bee are such divas *eyelashes BBM smiley* After getting our hair done, we had to go back to check on the little man we had an interview with...and he still didn't show. There are a series of bad words I would like to use on him but this is the internet and family reads this blog so...yeah.

P.s It was so careless of me but I don't have any pictures from this day! Not on my phone, not on my camera, not on Kimmy. Shame on me.

Alright alright. I can't get to the end. I am bored talking about the past. Or shall I breeze through instead of going into each day with such detail? Na na. Tuesday needs detail. Even Wednesday. Career fair...not so much detail needed there but well, it wouldn't hurt. I know some of you have stopped reading already. "Geez Tara talks tooo much!" *closing my blog* Well that is really your business.

I will finish this post eventually. It will be called "Spring Break, the Career Fair and all of that other BS (Part 2)". Go figure :|
